Tamim requested to axe him from BCB central contract, but...

Many star cricketers often do not want to be part of central contracts towards the end of their careers, or they simply decline the offer. Tamim Iqbal, despite being a prominent figure in Bangladesh cricket, is not keen on being part of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) central contract for the year 2024. The opening batter has requested the Cricket Operations Committee of BCB not to include him.

In discussions with the media, Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus revealed that Tamim had spoken to the selectors, to the chief selector, and even to him personally. He also stated that Tamim would discuss his future plans with BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon. Yunus mentioned, "Tamim has his own plans for the future, and he doesn't want to be under contract with us before finalizing his plans. He wants to have a discussion after the election, and then he will let us know what he intends to do."

However, Jalal Yunus has already drafted a central contract. BCB will submit it to the board for approval, and by December 31st, the final draft will be ready. Jalal Yunus said, "The selectors have already discussed this, and I have also attended a meeting on this matter. We have prepared a draft, and hopefully, by December 31st, we will finalize it and submit it to the board. It needs to be approved by the honorable president first. He will review it, and then we will release it to the board."

It is assumed that there will be 22 cricketers in BCB's central contract for the upcoming year.
