Zimbabweans are still burning with the pain

The inability of Zimbabwe to qualify for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup is quite painful. It seems that Zimbabwe has been carrying this pain through consecutive World Cups. Often, the Zimbabweans are scorched by the agony of not being able to play in the final phase of the World Cup. Thus, arriving in Bangladesh, Sikandar Raza shared their stories of sadness. However, forgetting all, Raza hopes to remember the good memories with a cup of tea in hand in the future.

Uganda has made history by securing a ticket to the T20 World Cup, while Zimbabwe plunges into a sea of despair after another failure. With two consecutive losses, Zimbabwe's fate was not in their own hands. The team stumbled from the very first match, losing to Namibia and thus being knocked out of the race for the T20 World Cup. Now they carry these wounds as they are in Bangladesh for their next series.

Before the start of the five-match series, captain Sikandar Raza faced a question about being knocked out of the World Cup at the very beginning of the press conference, "I didn’t expect this question to come up right at the start. It's always painful. Not just when we are playing, but even when we sit down tired and rest, it keeps spinning in our heads. It's painful for everyone related to Zimbabwe, the cricket team management, and the people of Zimbabwe that we cannot play in the World Cup. We will have to carry this pain for a long time."

Praise for their team culture was heard from Sikandar Raza, "Whenever the Zimbabwe national team comes together, we create some great memories. If we lose, we have to think about the fresh wounds. However, I prefer to reminisce about the good memories. Like other aspects of life, cricket too will pass by very quickly. I hope in the future, we can remember the good times while holding a cup of tea. That's why we gather good memories."
