Why Hasan Mahmud Will Miss Kent Final Two County Championship Matches

Kent have suffered a major blow in their battle for promotion from Division Two of the English County Championship, as they will be without Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud for their final two crucial matches of the season. The 24-year-old pacer has been called back by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on an urgent basis.

Hasan has been in excellent form for Kent this season, taking 30 wickets in seven matches across the County Championship and the T20 Blast. However, with Bangladesh set to face Afghanistan, the West Indies and South Africa in upcoming series, the BCB has recalled him to take part in a preparation camp ahead of the international assignments.

Expressing his disappointment at losing Hasan at a crucial stage of the season, Kent’s Director of Cricket Simon Cook said on the club’s official website, “We’re obviously disappointed to lose Hasan at this crucial final stage of the County Championship. However, following productive discussions with the BCB, we respect their decision. We wish him all the best for the international cricket this winter.”

Cook also confirmed that although Kent will miss Hasan, their other two overseas fast bowlers, Keith Dudgeon and Khaled Ahmed, will be available for the final two matches of the season.

Kent are currently third in the points table, just two points behind second-placed Northamptonshire. The good news for Kent, however, is that their final two matches will be against the bottom two teams in the table, Lancashire and Gloucestershire. Both matches will also be played at Kent’s home ground.
