The Coaches Set to Lead the D3 Trophy Teams

The six franchises participating in the ‘Domestic Three Trophy,’ or D3 Trophy, have selected their preferred coaches. From a 35-member shortlist provided by the board, the teams battled it out at the draft table to pick the men who will be entrusted with implementing their tactical plans.

The tournament will get underway with a grand T20 phase on December 15. This will be followed by four-day first-class matches in January next year, while the one-day format will take place in May. As part of this new initiative to revitalize the country’s cricket, six corporate organizations have been awarded the franchise rights to the six teams. Each organization has signed a three-year agreement, with an annual expenditure of Tk 2.5 crore.

Fortune Group has appointed successful domestic coach Mohammad Salahuddin as its head coach. Walton Group has brought in former national spinner and selector Abdur Razzak as their head coach.

Seven Rings Cement has entrusted the responsibility to current national team bowling coach Talha Jubair. Akmi Group has appointed Rajin Saleh as the driving force behind its team. Citizens Bank has placed its trust in the experience of Mizanur Rahman, while Ace Bluestar has appointed Sohel Islam as its head coach.

The list of assistant coaches also features a balance of surprise picks and experience. Fortune Group has appointed current national team batting coach Mohammad Ashraful as an assistant coach, while Abdul Qayum is their other choice for the role.

For the other teams, Seven Rings Cement has selected Humayun Kabir and Hannan Sarker as assistant coaches. Akmi Group has chosen Faisal Hossain and Tarek Aziz. Walton Group has appointed Dollar Mahmud and Tushar Imran, while Citizens Bank has selected Mohammad Selim and Nazmul Hossain. Ace Bluestar has brought in Ashiqur Rahman and Salauddin Ahmed as its assistant coaches.

Each team has finalized a six-member full technical unit from the draft, comprising one head coach, two assistant coaches, one physiotherapist, one strength and conditioning coach, and one performance analyst.

The BCB expects this restructuring of the backroom staff to take Bangladesh’s domestic cricket to a new, fully professional standard.
