Chattogram Edge Past Rajshahi in Last-Over Thriller

In a low-scoring, nail-biting Bangladesh Premier League encounter, Chattogram Royals defeated Rajshahi Warriors by 2 wickets. The tense victory in the final moments earned Chattogram two crucial points.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Rajshahi Warriors managed 128 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. From the outset, their batting line-up struggled under Chattogram’s disciplined bowling attack. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim departed early for just 5 runs, handing Rajshahi an early setback. Mohammad Waseem scored 19 and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto made 7, but none of the top-order batters could build a substantial innings.

In the middle overs, Mushfiqur Rahim’s 15 and Meherob Hasan’s 19 helped Rajshahi put up some resistance. Late contributions from Akbar Ali (17) and an unbeaten 14 from Tanzim Hasan Sakib lifted the total to 128. For Chattogram, Aamer Jamal was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs, while Shoriful Islam and Tanvir Islam picked up two wickets each.

Chasing 129, Chattogram Royals also failed to get off to a solid start. Openers Adam Rossington (17) and Mohammad Naim Sheikh (7) were dismissed cheaply, putting the team under immediate pressure. At one stage, Chattogram were reeling at 28 for 4, raising fears of a collapse.

Skipper Mahedi Hasan then steadied the innings with a composed and valuable knock of 28 off 25 balls. He was well supported by Hasan Nawaz, who scored 35 off 36 deliveries to restore balance to the chase. Later, Asif Ali’s 27-run innings reignited hopes in the Chattogram dugout.

The drama intensified once again towards the end, but a quick cameo of 8 runs off 4 balls by Aamer Jamal brought Chattogram within touching distance of victory. Hasan Nawaz sealed the win by taking two runs off the final ball. Rajshahi’s Binura Fernando claimed three wickets, but his efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.
