Rangpur Riders secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Sylhet Titans in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Chasing a modest target in the 12th match of the tournament at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Rangpur completed the task with controlled and composed batting.
After losing the toss, Sylhet Titans were sent in to bat and managed 144 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The hosts failed to get an ideal start as opener Saim Ayub departed early, putting the team under pressure. Rony Talukdar and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz also failed to convert their starts into substantial contributions.
In the middle overs, Afif Hossain Dhrubo tried to steady the innings with a fighting knock. His 46 off 31 balls provided Sylhet with some hope of posting a competitive total. Towards the end, Ethan Brookes added late momentum with a 32-run cameo, but regular wickets prevented Sylhet from reaching the 150-run mark. Rangpur bowlers maintained tight lines in the death overs to restrict the scoring.
In reply, Rangpur Riders also faced early setbacks, losing multiple wickets at the top. However, the experienced middle order took control of the chase. Kyle Mayers and Litton Das played patiently to rebuild the innings, setting a solid platform. The match was eventually turned in Rangpur’s favour by Mahmudullah, whose responsible yet aggressive batting sealed the result. The veteran all-rounder smashed a quick 34 off just 16 deliveries to guide his team home.
Despite brief moments where Sylhet’s bowlers threatened a comeback, they were unable to strike at crucial times. Rangpur eventually reached the target in 18.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process.
