Bangladesh to Play T20 Series Against UAE This Month; Pakistan Tour Under Review

The Bangladesh national cricket team is set to play a two-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this month, despite the postponement of their scheduled tour of Pakistan. The matches will proceed as originally planned, with Litton Das leading the side.

According to the current schedule, Bangladesh will face UAE on May 17 and 19, with both matches taking place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the details in a press release today, which also addressed the status of the upcoming tours to UAE and Pakistan.

While the UAE series will go ahead as scheduled, discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are ongoing regarding the Pakistan tour. The BCB emphasized that the safety and security of players and support staff remain the top priority, and a final decision on the Pakistan leg will be made after further assessment.

Originally, Bangladesh was scheduled to travel to Pakistan directly from the UAE to play a five-match T20I series in Lahore and Faisalabad. However, escalating regional tensions and conflict have raised serious concerns about player safety.

BCB President Faruq Ahmed and board directors convened an emergency meeting today at the BCB headquarters in Mirpur. No decision to cancel or postpone the Pakistan tour was made during the meeting, but the board has opted to closely monitor the situation in the coming days before making a final call.
