Bangladesh made a flying start in their Asia Cup opener with a convincing 7-wicket win over Hong Kong. Leading from the front was captain Litton Das, whose match-winning knock of 59 runs at a strike rate of 151 earned him the Player of the Match award. His performance drew high praise from former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik and former New Zealand star Simon Doull.
Speaking about Liton’s batting, Murali Kartik said,“Litton’s innings was invaluable, along with his strike rate. Among all Bangladeshi players, he looked the most comfortable. The way he batted shows just how important he is for the team.”
Kartik further noted that Liton’s ability to handle spin will be crucial against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. He explained,“He plays spin really well, which will be important against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Afghanistan have three different types of spinners, all with varying pace, and Litton will have to play a key role there.”
Meanwhile, Simon Doull highlighted Litton’s leadership qualities, stating that he set the right example as captain.
“When you’re given the captain’s role, you have to lead from the front. Liton played brilliantly. He wanted to be there to finish the game, but the way he got out was just a tired shot. When the players go back to the dressing room, they will say—this is the right way to play; these are the positives to take forward.”
