Bangladesh’s hopes in the Asia Cup ended in disappointment as the Tigers failed to deliver on their early promise of reaching the final. Instead, for the first time in tournament history, an India–Pakistan final will take place without Bangladesh in contention. Following the team’s underwhelming campaign, Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Kumar Das issued an emotional apology to the fans.

On Tuesday (September 30), Litton took to social media to share his heartfelt message, admitting that the team’s failure to achieve their target had left both players and supporters deeply hurt.

“As a team, we gave our best in the Asia Cup. Our main goal was to reach the final and lift the trophy. Unfortunately, we could not achieve that. As a team, we sincerely apologize to all Bangladesh supporters,” Litton wrote.

The skipper missed the last two games of the tournament due to injury, and his absence has also ruled him out of the upcoming home series against Afghanistan.

Sharing his personal frustration, Litton added: “Not being able to play the last two matches due to injury was very painful for me. Missing the Afghanistan series for the same reason is another huge blow. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t recover in time, and this will haunt me for a long time.”

Despite the disappointment, Litton didn’t forget to thank the fans for their unwavering support. “Finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for your immense support throughout the tournament. As players, we are truly blessed to have the best fans in the world. I hope we can soon bring you the joy you deserve,” he concluded.

Bangladesh will now look to put the Asia Cup setback behind them as they prepare for a new challenge against Afghanistan. The three-match T20I series begins on October 2, followed by ODIs on October 8, 11, and 14. Litton’s absence is expected to impact the batting lineup, but analysts believe the skipper’s determination will see him return soon — with the promise of making fans smile again.
