Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taking left-arm spinner, Abdur Razzak, will contest the director post from Khulna division in the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections. He has already collected his nomination papers and resigned from his selector position.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Razzak said, “I have contributed to the country’s cricket for many years as a player and have tried to serve honestly as a selector. Now I want to take one step further and contribute to the development of cricket.”
Razzak added that he does not feel pressured about participating in the election. With the support of Khulna division, making the decision was easy. “This is an election, so mentally I have to be prepared. But having the support from Khulna division, it’s not a matter of pressure,” he said.
He also spoke on topics such as the ongoing National Cricket League in Sylhet, team selection after the Asia Cup, and the handover of responsibilities. “From now on, I am no longer a selector. Any decisions will be made by the officials currently in charge,” he stated.
Confident about winning, Razzak said, “I have received support from everyone, and I am very optimistic about winning.” He emphasized that his main goal in contesting is to promote cricket development. Razzak views the participation of former cricketers positively and believes it is beneficial for the future of Bangladesh cricket.
