Afghanistan Crush Bangladesh with Dominant Whitewash

Bangladesh’s ODI series against Afghanistan ended in utter humiliation in Abu Dhabi, as Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s men suffered a 3–0 whitewash. In the final ODI, the Tigers were thrashed by a massive 200 runs — bowled out for just 93 while chasing Afghanistan’s 293 for 9.

With this emphatic win, Afghanistan avenged their T20I series defeat to Bangladesh — and did it in the same 3–0 margin.

Ibrahim Zadran (58) and Mohammad Nabi (53*) powered Afghanistan to a strong total after a steady start, while young pacer Bilal Sami starred with the ball, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul. Rashid Khan added more misery for Bangladesh, picking up three wickets in just three overs with his trademark spin wizardry.

Bangladesh’s batting collapse once again told a familiar story. Opener Mohammad Naim struggled, managing only 7 runs off 23 balls. Saif Hassan was the lone fighter, scoring 43 off 54 balls with two fours and three sixes — but found no support at the other end.

Najmul Hossain Shanto’s poor run continued as he was bowled by Bilal Sami via an inside edge. Soon after, Rashid Khan entered the attack — trapping Towhid Hridoy lbw with his first delivery, then removing Saif Hasan with a googly in his next over. One by one, Bangladesh’s middle and lower order fell apart. Miraz made 6, Shamim Hossain was run out, and Nurul Hasan, Tanvir Islam, and Rishad Hossain all departed in single digits.

Bilal Sami finished with stunning figures, cleaning up the Tigers in the 28th over to complete his five-wicket haul.

Earlier, Afghanistan had a flying start with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (42) and Ibrahim Zadran adding 99 runs for the first wicket. Though Bangladesh momentarily slowed the scoring, Mohammad Nabi’s late onslaught — smashing 44 runs in the last two overs — lifted Afghanistan to a formidable total of 293.

In reply, Bangladesh’s innings never took off. Afghanistan dominated with both bat and ball, showing complete control throughout the match.

For Bangladesh, this wasn’t just another defeat — it was a stark warning about the fragile state of their ODI cricket.
