Drama Looming at the Asia Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) recent actions once again hint at drama surrounding the Asia Cup. Just a few days ago, PCB announced its central contracts for the 2025–26 season. Shockingly, not a single cricketer was placed in the top ‘A’ category. The decision has left former players and fans stunned, with ex-batter Basit Ali even labeling it a “joke.”

Speaking on a YouTube show named Game Plan alongside former wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal, Basit Ali vented his frustration, saying, “This decision by PCB is completely unreasonable.”

He also hinted at another drama unfolding in the Asia Cup. According to him, “On September 14, Pakistan will take the field against India. That day, another drama will take place. Something dramatic will definitely happen there.” However, he did not elaborate on what exactly he meant.

Whenever India and Pakistan face off, the rivalry brings extra excitement for fans. But political tensions continue to directly impact cricket between the two nations. Former Indian cricketers have openly called for boycotting matches against Pakistan. As a result, doubts remain over whether the high-voltage clash scheduled for September 14 will actually go ahead.
