West Indies Announce Strong Squad for Bangladesh Tour

Cricket West Indies have announced a new-look squad for their upcoming tour of Bangladesh, featuring both ODI and T20I series. Shai Hope will continue to lead the side in both formats, as the Caribbean team look to build momentum ahead of future global events. The series kicks off on October 18 in Dhaka.

The squad includes several new faces. Batter Akeem Auguste has earned his maiden ODI call-up, while spinner Khary Pierre, who made his Test debut against India, returns to the 50-over format. The T20I side also sees fresh additions — left-arm pacer Ramon Symonds and young batter Aamir Jangoo, both of whom debuted in the recent Nepal series.

However, experienced opener Evin Lewis misses out once again due to a wrist injury. In his absence, Auguste gets a place in the ODI squad. Middle-order batter Alick Athanaze makes a comeback to the ODI setup for the first time since December last year, while Shamar Joseph returns from injury and is named in both squads.

Head coach Daren Sammy expressed confidence in his side’s balance and intent. “We’ve built a squad that will take the field with a winning mindset. Our focus is on maintaining team unity and consistency. This Bangladesh tour is an important opportunity to strengthen our preparations ahead of the World Cup,” Sammy said.

According to the schedule, the ODI series will begin on October 18 in Dhaka, followed by the next two matches on October 21 and October 23 at the same venue. The action will then move to Chattogram for the three-match T20I series on October 27, 29, and 31.
