Former Australian opener David Warner will take on the role of captain for Karachi Kings in the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Warner was the first player selected by Karachi Kings in the January draft. He will be replacing Shan Masood as the team’s captain.
Commenting on the role, Warner expressed, “We have some fantastic players in our squad, and I’m very excited to take on this responsibility as captain.”
Karachi Kings' owner Salman Iqbal stated, “Warner's leadership and his ability to win matches perfectly align with our vision.” He also showed respect for Shan Masood, describing him as “a key player for the team.”
Karachi Kings have failed to reach the playoffs in the last three seasons. Since their sole title win in 2020, the team has been plagued with disappointments.
Warner recently led Sydney Thunder to the final in the 2024-25 Big Bash League, marking his return to leadership duties seven years after the lifetime captaincy ban imposed on him in 2018. His ban was lifted last year.
The PSL will kick off on April 11, with the final match scheduled for May 18 in Lahore.
