BCCI (The Board of Control for Cricket in India) will soon advertise for the head coach position, confirmed BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. He revealed this information in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Currently, Rahul Dravid holds the position of head coach in India. Jay Shah mentioned that if Rahul Dravid wishes to reapply for the position, he will be allowed to do so.
According to Jay Shah, "Rahul Dravid's term is until June. So, if he wants to reapply, he can do so."
Once the head coach position is finalized, BCCI will appoint batting, bowling, and fielding coaches based on his recommendation. Jay Shah also hinted that the board might consider hiring foreign coaches. However, coaches will not differ for different formats.
He stated, "We cannot say for sure whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign. We have many cricketers who play all formats, such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and many others. There is no situation that necessitates hiring different coaches for different formats in India."
Regardless of who the new head coach is, they will have a long tenure initially set for three years.
