Brydon Carse to serve three-month ban over betting

England's pacer Brydon Carse has been suspended from all forms of cricket for three months due to placing bets on cricket matches. He is banned from playing in any cricket matches until August 28. If he commits no further anti-corruption violations in the next two years, he will face no additional penalties.

Carse received a 16-month ban for placing 303 bets on various cricket matches. From May 28, 2024, to August 28, 2024, Carse is prohibited from participating in any form of cricket, with the remaining part of the ban suspended for two years. The matches on which he placed bets took place over five years ago, and he did not participate in any of them.

Carse signed a central contract with England in October. However, he admitted to placing 303 bets on various cricket matches between 2017 and 2019, none of which he was playing in. Carse has accepted his ban and expressed his eagerness to return.

The 28-year-old pacer was called up to the World Cup squad six months ago. Following an anti-corruption investigation, he was handed a 16-month ban, with 13 months suspended. By betting on cricket, he violated the ECB's gambling regulations.

In a statement on Durham County Cricket's website, Carse said, "While these bets were placed several years ago, it is no excuse, and I take full responsibility for my actions. I want to thank the ECB, Durham Cricket, and the PCA for their support during this difficult time. I will work hard over the next 12 weeks to repay that support on the field when I am able to return to the game."
