Bangladesh’s sole achievement in the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was their victory against Scotland. However, captain Nigar Sultana Joty achieved a remarkable individual milestone. Despite her team exiting in the first round, Joty’s impressive performance earned her recognition. She was named as the wicketkeeper-batter in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament.

On Monday, the ICC announced the Team of the Tournament, with Nigar Sultana Joty being the only player from Bangladesh to secure a spot. Joty scored 104 runs in four matches and was outstanding behind the stumps, taking one catch and completing six stumpings, the highest dismissals in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

In the ICC Team of the Tournament, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits were selected as openers, while England’s Danni Wyatt occupied the one-down position. Following her was Amelia Kerr from New Zealand, a member of the World Cup-winning team.

At number five was India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur, followed by Caribbean player Deandra Dottin. Her compatriot Afy Fletcher also made it into the team. The remaining bowling spots were filled by New Zealand’s Rosemary Mair, Australia’s Megan Schutt, and South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba. New Zealand’s Eden Carson was named as the 12th player.
