Bangladesh captain Joty explained the reason for the loss to England

The Bangladesh women's cricket team was unable to capitalize on the confidence gained from their victory over Scotland, losing to England by 21 runs in their second match of the T20 World Cup. After the match, captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti shared her insights on the defeat during the post-match award ceremony.

Jyoti expressed her disappointment at missing the opportunity to defeat a strong England side, while also praising her bowlers for restricting the English team to a low score. She stated, “We let a good opportunity slip away to beat a strong team. Our bowlers did a fantastic job in keeping them to a low total. Despite their strong start in the power play, we managed to control the game.”

She acknowledged that despite the good bowling performance, the batting failures were ultimately responsible for the loss. “On this type of pitch, we needed a solid partnership. We didn’t score enough runs in the power play and lost wickets at crucial moments.”

Sobhana Mostari stood out with the bat for Bangladesh, scoring 44 runs off 48 balls. Apart from her and captain Jyoti, no other batter managed to reach double figures. Jyoti commended Sobhana’s performance, saying, “Sobhana Mostari played really well, as she did in the last match. She has maintained her form, and I hope she continues to do so in the upcoming matches.”

The team will be looking to regroup and improve in their next fixtures as they aim for a stronger showing in the tournament.
