Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has dedicated the historic victory against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Test to those who lost their lives in the anti-discrimination student movement. Man of the Match Mushfiqur Rahim, who received 300,000 Pakistani Rupees, has announced that he will donate the prize money to flood victims.
The Bangladesh cricket team dedicated their historic Test victory against Pakistan to those who perished in the anti-discrimination student movement. The captain stated, "We dedicate this win to those who lost their lives in the anti-discrimination student movement."
Upon receiving the Man of the Match award, Mushfiqur Rahim said, "I want to donate the prize money I received for being the Man of the Match to flood victims. I urge those who are in the country to stand by the flood-affected people."
Bangladesh wrote a new chapter at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with their first-ever Test victory against Pakistan. The task of putting Pakistan on the back foot was primarily achieved by Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, which resulted in Pakistan's lowest total ever against Bangladesh in Test cricket (146). Bangladesh needed just 30 runs to win, and they achieved this target without losing a wicket.
The team, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, began the series with a commanding 10-wicket victory. This is Bangladesh's largest margin of victory in Test cricket overseas. Pakistan, having played nine Tests at home over the last three years, has failed to win any of them.
Pakistan's second innings was halted at 146 runs by the spin prowess of Shakib and Miraz. Mehedi Hasan Miraz took the highest number of wickets for Bangladesh with 4, while Shakib Al Hasan claimed 3 crucial wickets. The bowlers provided Bangladesh with the dream of their first Test win against Pakistan. Apart from Rizwan, no other Pakistani batsman truly challenged the Bangladeshi bowlers. Bangladesh needed just 30 runs for victory, which was easily achieved with dominant performances from Zakir Hasan and Sadman Islam.
