England Wins Comfortably in Anderson's Farewell Test
In James Anderson's farewell Test, England secured a comfortable victory against the West Indies. The English team made Anderson's final Test memorable by winning by an innings and 114 runs.
The West Indies' first innings was wrapped up for just 121 runs, thanks to the superb bowling of Gus Atkinson. The 26-year-old pacer took 7 wickets for 45 runs, putting England in a dominant position early in the match.
In their turn to bat at Lord's, England posted a total of 371 runs in their first innings. Despite an early dismissal of Duckett, Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope steadied the innings. Zak Crawley scored 76, Ollie Pope 57, Joe Root 68, Harry Brook 50, and Jamie Smith 70. Though many batsmen got fifties, none could convert it into a big score. This gave England a significant lead of 250 runs after the first innings.
Trailing by a large margin, the West Indies began their second innings. However, their top order failed again, and by the end of the second day, they were struggling at 79 for 6, with Gus Atkinson once again causing damage. England's victory seemed inevitable at this point.
On the third day of the Test, the West Indies were all out for 134, sparing England from needing to bat again. England won by an innings and 144 runs.
Gus Atkinson was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, taking 7 wickets in the first innings and 5 in the second. Meanwhile, James Anderson concluded his illustrious career with 1 wicket in the first innings and 3 in the second.
