Taskin Ahmed Makes Major Leap in ICC Test Bowling Rankings After Career-Best Performance

Although Bangladesh suffered a defeat in the Antigua Test, pacer Taskin Ahmed made a significant impact with a remarkable bowling performance. Taskin's career-best figures of 6 wickets for 64 runs in the second innings dismantled the West Indies, helping bowl them out for just 152 runs. His stellar performance earned him a major jump in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, where he has now reached a career-high position.

Taskin's remarkable 6/64 in the second innings of the first Test in West Indies, along with two wickets in the first innings, propelled him to a significant leap in the rankings. The fast bowler rose 16 places to 51st in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, marking his best-ever ranking with 383 rating points.

In the same Test, West Indies’ five pacers—Shannon Gabriel, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Jaden Seales, and Justin Greaves—were instrumental in taking 18 wickets for Bangladesh. Jaden Seales, Kemar Roach, and Alzarri Joseph all saw improvements in their rankings, moving to 11th, 17th, and 29th positions, respectively.

In the ICC Test All-Rounder Rankings, Bangladesh's Mehedi Hasan Miraz made notable progress, rising 3 spots to reach 3rd place. However, he slipped one position in the Bowling Rankings, now holding 26th place. Another Bangladesh spinner, Taijul Islam, dropped 5 spots to 23rd. Despite Taskin’s rise, the other Bangladesh pacers, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud, saw declines. Hasan dropped 2 spots to 57th, while Shoriful fell 4 places to 67th.

In the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the top spot, following an outstanding performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah led India to a historic win while filling in as captain for the absent Rohit Sharma, and his exceptional bowling in Perth has been rewarded with his return to the No. 1 position.
