The hopeful England management has announced that Jofra Archer will play in the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan next month. The board is particularly waiting to see Archer in an English jersey ahead of the T20 World Cup in June. England's Men's Team Managing Director, Rob Key, has stated that they want to keep Archer out of Test cricket until 2025.
Currently, Archer is in Barbados, where he is involved with club cricket. After almost 11 months, he has returned to competitive cricket following a right elbow injury. Despite facing a lengthy recovery process, Archer is showing full enthusiasm again, raising hopes for England. He had participated as a traveling reserve for the England team in last year's ICC T20 World Cup. Before the tournament began, he had some training sessions with the team but couldn't return to the main squad due to ongoing rehabilitation for his injury. Despite this setback, the England team performed well in the World Cup, even though their pacers didn't exhibit much attacking pace, rather opting for a slightly slower approach.
This year, Archer was released from the IPL to ensure a healthy recovery process. The ECB does not want to risk his fitness by rushing him back into action. England is scheduled to play a 4-match series against Pakistan next month, where Archer's participation is expected. If everything goes according to plan, Archer might also feature in the T20 World Cup squad.
Archer's participation in this year's IPL was deferred to ensure a smooth recovery process. The ECB does not want to take any risks with his health. The 4-match series against Pakistan is scheduled to begin on May 22, where Archer's presence is anticipated. If all goes well, he might also make it to the T20 World Cup squad.
