Bangladesh's Women’s U-19 cricket team secured a massive 120-run victory over Malaysia in the Women’s U-19 Asia Cup, advancing to the semifinals. Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 149 runs, and in response, Malaysia was bowled out for just 29 runs.
The match, held in Kuala Lumpur, saw Bangladesh captain Sadia Akter winning the toss and opting to bat first. Openers Fahmida Khatun and Eva put on a solid start, adding 45 runs. Fahmida was dismissed for 26 runs off 21 balls, while Eva contributed 19 runs.
The highest score for Bangladesh came from Jannatul Mawa, who made 45 runs off 45 balls. Captain Sumaiya Akter scored 12 runs, and in the final overs, Sadia Akter played a cameo, making 31 runs off 19 balls. Bangladesh finished their innings with 149 runs, losing 5 wickets.
In their chase of 150 runs, Malaysia's batting line-up could not settle due to tight bowling by Nishita Akter and Habiba Islam. They lost their first wicket for just 7 runs, and then another wicket fell after adding only 1 run. At 18 runs, Malaysia had already lost 4 wickets, putting them under immense pressure.
