In a commendable initiative by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the Bangladesh cricket team has been awarded a bonus of 32 million taka for their historic Test series victory against Pakistan. A portion of this amount will be donated to flood-affected and injured students.
Bangladesh achieved a remarkable whitewash over Pakistan in the Test series, winning both matches on their home ground. In the first Test, Bangladesh secured a 10-wicket victory, and in the second Test, they triumphed with a thrilling 6-wicket win. The team dominated the series in Rawalpindi, marking a commanding performance across the two Tests.
The BCB expressed their appreciation for the cricketers' success by granting a substantial financial bonus. On Saturday, August 14, at a five-star hotel in the capital, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and BCB President Faruk Ahmed presented the total prize of 32 million taka to the Bangladesh captain.
Following this, the cricketers announced that the prize money from the BCB would be donated to students injured during anti-discrimination protests. Additionally, several districts, including Feni, Noakhali, and Comilla, have been devastated by severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall and upstream water from India. The Bangladeshi cricketers have also extended their support to those affected by the floods.
This victory marks the first Test match win and Test series win against Pakistan on their own soil, 24 years after achieving Test status.
