In a crucial T20 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Bangladesh was set a daunting target of 222 runs by India. With the series on the line, a win was imperative for the Tigers. However, due to a catastrophic failure in the top order, they managed to score only 135 runs before losing by 86 runs.
This loss confirmed Bangladesh's defeat in both the Test and T20 series during their tour of India, marking a disappointing end to their campaign as they head to Hyderabad for the next match.
Bangladesh started their chase with an explosive opening from Parvez Hossain Emon, who scored 14 runs off the first over bowled by Arshdeep Singh. However, he was soon dismissed for 16 runs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto began his innings with back-to-back boundaries but was caught out for 11 runs off Washington Sundar’s third delivery.
Things worsened for Bangladesh when Litton Das was bowled by Varun Chakravarthy on the first ball he faced, leaving Bangladesh in dire straits at 42 runs for three wickets. After the first six overs, the team had only managed 43 runs, while India had scored 45 runs for three wickets in the same timeframe.
Despite a brief recovery, Bangladesh's middle order crumbled. Towhid Hridoy was dismissed for just 2 runs, falling to part-time spinner Abhishek Sharma. Mehedi Hasan Miraz managed only 16 runs before being dismissed. Zakir Ali Anik, who scored only 1 run in this match, along with Rishad Hossain, who made 9 runs, further compounded the team’s woes.
Ultimately, Bangladesh's batting lineup faltered, leading to another disappointing performance in the series.
