Former Pakistani Bowler Criticizes Waqar Younis
Former Pakistani fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has sharply criticized Waqar Younis, the PCB Chairman's Advisor, for the decision to drop Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam from the squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.
Ahead of the first Test match, set to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, the selection committee decided to opt for a pace-heavy bowling attack, excluding leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed and all-rounder Kamran Ghulam from the squad. Tanvir Ahmed expressed his disappointment with this decision, specifically targeting Waqar Younis, who recently joined the PCB in a new role.
Tanvir Ahmed took to Twitter to criticize Waqar Younis and the selection committee, accusing them of weakening Pakistan cricket.
He said, "Did you all see? Waqar Younis and the selection committee have dropped Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam from the Test match against Bangladesh. The problem now is that Waqar Younis will destroy Pakistan cricket."
In a further Twitter post, Tanvir Ahmed labeled the selection committee as "third-class" and stated, "This third-class selection committee should be ashamed for dropping Abrar and Kamran Ghulam from the team. Where is this Waqar Younis who presents himself as a great legend? How could these two be excluded?"
Despite the absence of a specialist spinner against Bangladesh, coach Jason Gillespie plans to use Agha Salman as an off-spinner. The pace attack will feature Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, and Khurram Shehzad.
