"I think we didn't start well...": Bangladesh captain Shanto

Just two days ago, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto had stated that Bangladesh would play with a different approach in the series against India. However, on the field, it was the same old disappointing performance. The top-order batters failed once again, with neither the middle-order nor the lower-order managing to steady the innings. So, when will the fans finally get to witness that 'different approach' from the players?

After the defeat against India, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto addressed the media, discussing the team's approach. He said, "The approach I spoke about heavily depends on a good start. In the first 6 overs, we should avoid losing wickets and focus on scoring runs. Otherwise, it becomes very challenging for the batters who come later. We've been struggling in this area for a long time, and those batting in these positions need to take more responsibility."

Bangladesh has been underperforming in T20 cricket for quite some time now. When asked about the shortcomings that are causing the players to struggle, Shanto responded:

"I don't want to single out any player. As a whole batting unit, none of us performed well today. Aggression and approach to scoring runs are crucial, and we need to make better shot selections. Deciding which shot to play at which moment and determining our approach at the crease are important things to think about. This is a critical area. We can't overthink just because we failed in one match. We need to understand when to play certain shots and how to approach our batting."

Despite repeated failures in T20 cricket, Bangladesh is not a bad team. Shanto affirmed, "I wouldn’t say we are doing terribly. We are a better team than this. Although we haven’t been performing well in this format for a long time, I don’t believe we are such a bad team."
