South Africa secured 202 runs 1st innings lead vs Bangladesh

In response to Bangladesh's first innings score of 106, South Africa amassed 308 runs in their first innings, leaving Bangladesh trailing by 202 runs before their second innings. Kyle Verreynne, who scored a century, was the last batter to be dismissed, getting out for 114 runs. With a lead exceeding 200 runs, Bangladesh is now preparing to bat in their second innings.

The first session saw Bangladesh experience some frustration with three dropped catches, but Hasan Mahmud provided a glimmer of hope by taking two wickets. Verreynne, however, went into lunch on a high note, having secured his second Test century. He became the third South African wicketkeeper-batter to score a century on Asian soil, following in the footsteps of AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock.

The first six of the innings came in the 88th over, with Verreynne hitting a slog sweep off Nayeem Hasan over deep mid-wicket to push the team's total past 300. He followed up with another six in the next over, extending the lead to over 200.

However, Mehedi Hasan Miraz struck back swiftly, allowing wicketkeeper Litton Das to stump Verreynne on the very next delivery. With Verreynne's dismissal at 114, South Africa's innings came to a close, leaving Bangladesh with a daunting target of 202 runs to chase.
