After Shakib, Soumya Sarkar Joins Lanka T10 League Team
Soumya Sarkar has become the second Bangladeshi cricketer to join a team in the inaugural Lanka T10 Super League, following Shakib Al Hasan. While Shakib had already been directly signed by the Galle Gladiators franchise ahead of the draft, today, Soumya was picked up by Hambantota Bangla Tigers in the players' draft.
Before the T10 League’s players' draft, Shakib Al Hasan had already been acquired by the Galle Gladiators. The franchise secured Shakib as a Platinum Player in the pre-draft selections. Following that, another Bangladeshi cricketer, Soumya Sarkar, was drafted into the league today.
The Hambantota Bangla Tigers franchise selected Soumya Sarkar as an overseas player in Category C, acquiring him at the base price during the draft. This marks Soumya’s first participation in a foreign league, should all go as planned.
At Hambantota, Soumya will join a strong team that includes players like Dasun Shanaka, Ifthikhar Ahmed, Hazratullah Zazai, Kusal Perera, and Mohammad Shahzad.
The Lanka T10 League will kick off on December 12 and run through December 22. Before the tournament begins, the players' auction took place today, November 10, with six franchises participating in the draft.
