Hassan Mahmud Strikes Early as West Indies Struggles on Day 2
On the second day of the ongoing Test match in Antigua, Bangladesh's Hasan Mahmud delivered a superb performance right from the start. In the very first over of the day, he trapped Joshua Da Silva in front with an LBW, dismissing the West Indies wicketkeeper-batter. In his next over, Hasan claimed another wicket, this time catching Alzarri Joseph to reduce West Indies to 5 wickets down. However, despite these early breakthroughs, Bangladesh couldn't find any further wickets in the remaining time of the session.
Starting the day with 5 wickets for 250 runs, West Indies added 86 runs in the first 26 overs of the session but lost 2 more wickets. At lunch, they were 7 wickets down for 336 runs.
Just 15 minutes into the second day's play, Joshua Da Silva, who was unbeaten on 14 the previous day, was dismissed without adding any runs to his score, leaving the West Indies in trouble. They quickly lost another wicket, as Alzarri Joseph was dismissed shortly after.
Hasan Mahmud continued his fine form, picking up two wickets in two consecutive overs. Zakir Hasan took a brilliant catch in the gully to dismiss Joseph for 4 runs. After losing their 7th wicket at 261 runs, West Indies began to recover thanks to a resilient partnership between Justin Greaves and Kemar Roach.
Greaves scored his first Test fifty off 88 balls, while he and Roach added 75 runs for the 8th wicket, giving West Indies some hope. At the lunch break, Greaves remained unbeaten on 64, with Roach on 19 off 74 balls, as the West Indies looked to continue their fight.
