On the occasion of victory day, Bangladesh secured a thrilling 7-run win against the West Indies. The Tigers tasted success in the first T20I amidst dramatic final-over excitement. However, their start with the bat was far from ideal, losing 3 wickets for just 30 runs.
Chasing a target of 148, the West Indies also struggled to bat comfortably, as the St. Vincent wicket didn’t offer much assistance to the batters.
Speaking about the wicket after the match, Bangladesh’s stand-in captain Litton Kumar Das said, “We have played here before. When I first saw the wicket, I thought it would behave differently. But as we batted, it became clear that it wasn’t a very good wicket for batting.”
At the toss, Litton expressed optimism, aiming for a total of 180 runs, saying, “It seems like a good wicket. We’ll try to put 180 on the board after batting first.”
However, Bangladesh managed to score 147 runs by the end of their innings. Litton believed even that total was enough to fight with, adding, “We thought 150-160 would be a good total. We knew we could compete with this score. I want our team to play aggressive cricket. They are showcasing their quality and playing really good cricket at the moment. It has been a long tour, and starting the T20 series with a win is great. If we play well in the upcoming matches, we can win the series.”
