Afghanistan Bans Ihsanullah Janat, Three Others Under Suspicion

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned 26-year-old Afghan batsman Ihsanullah Janat for five years from all forms of cricket. Janat was found guilty of multiple corruption charges, including match-fixing.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the ACB announced the ban. The statement read, “Janat has been found guilty of violating ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code 2.1.1. He was penalized for exerting undue influence to fix matches and for violating conduct rules. Consequently, he has been banned from all forms of cricket for five years. Janat has accepted the punishment and confessed to being involved in corruption.”

Ihsanullah Janat last played for the Afghanistan national team in 2022. He has represented the national team in 3 Tests, 16 ODIs, and 1 T20I. His last appearance was for the Shamshad Eagles in the Kabul Premier League.

In addition to Ihsanullah Janat, three other cricketers are currently under suspicion, according to the ACB. However, their names have not been disclosed. The ACB stated, "Their involvement depends on their confessions. The decision will be based on that."
