Rawalpindi Honors Board welcomes Litton Das
After Mehidy Hasan Miraz, it’s now Tiger batter Liton Kumar Das who has inscribed his name on the Honours Board. In the ongoing second Test of the series against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Liton Das scored a brilliant century. He scored a crucial 138 runs for the team, securing his place on the Honours Board of Rawalpindi Stadium. This innings also marked Liton’s achievement of reaching the milestone of 2,500 runs in Test cricket.
This century is Liton Das's first in two years of Test cricket. His innings of 138 runs off 228 balls included 13 fours and 4 sixes, making him the highest run-scorer for the team in this innings. Liton’s responsible batting was the key to Bangladesh reaching a respectable position after an initial collapse in the first innings.
At the start of the day, Bangladesh’s batting lineup crumbled, losing wickets one after another. The team was in dire straits, losing 6 wickets for just 26 runs, raising fears of a follow-on.
In this desperate situation, Liton Das built a significant partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, adding 165 runs together. Miraz was eventually dismissed for 78 runs, but Liton continued to fight from one end. Hasan Mahmud provided solid support, allowing Liton to reach his much-desired century. Even after achieving his century, Liton did not stop and went on to score 138 runs in total.
