Pakistan Eyes Victory in Second Test Against England
After suffering an innings defeat in the first Test, Pakistan is now eyeing victory in the second Test against England. At the end of the third day, England finished at 36 for 2, chasing a target of 297 runs. To win, the visitors need another 261 runs with 8 wickets in hand.
In the first Test at this same ground in Multan, England had amassed over 800 runs in a single innings, so scoring 261 runs might not seem too difficult for them. However, the situation is entirely different this time. Pakistan's spinner Sajid Khan has put the English batsmen in a difficult position with his spin. Spinner Noman Ali is also ready to test the English side.
England began their innings with 239 runs for 6 wickets but couldn’t progress much further. They were eventually all out for 291 runs. Sajid Khan took 7 wickets for 111 runs, while Noman claimed 3 wickets.
In contrast, Pakistan collapsed for 221 runs in their second innings, starting with a 75-run lead. They lost wickets at regular intervals, finding themselves at 8 wickets down for just 156 runs.
However, a ninth-wicket partnership between Sajid Khan and Agha Salman added 65 runs, setting a challenging target for England. Salman was the top scorer for the team with 63 runs.
On the final day, England has already lost 2 wickets for 36 runs, with both openers back in the pavilion. Joe Root is unbeaten on 12, while Ollie Pope is not out at 21.
