Bangladesh began their T20I series against the Netherlands in Sylhet with a convincing eight-wicket win, powered by standout performances from Litton Das and Saif Hassan. Chasing 137, the pair put on an unbeaten 46-run stand that sealed the victory, while Saif’s all-round contribution with both bat and ball earned special praise.
Litton anchored the chase with an unbeaten 54, while Saif smashed 36 off just 19 balls, finishing the game in style with a six. Earlier, Saif had also chipped in with two crucial wickets, justifying his recall to the XI.
Before the match, captain Litton had hinted at Saif’s value in the side: “We wanted someone who can score quickly in the middle overs and also bowl two or three overs if needed. Saif fits that role perfectly.” On Saturday, the right-hander lived up to his skipper’s words.
After the win, Taskin Ahmed spoke at the post-match press conference, praising the team’s balance and especially highlighting Saif’s contribution. “Saif played a big role, both in finishing with the bat and in his bowling. Litton is also in excellent form, and his consistency is very important for us,” said Taskin.
He stressed that Litton’s continued run of form will be a key advantage: “If Litton can keep performing like this, it will be a huge plus point for our team.”
On Bangladesh’s steady progress in T20 cricket, Taskin remained optimistic. “We’re improving in every department—batting, bowling, everything is clicking together. With the joint efforts of the coaching staff and management, each player is working hard to get better,” he said.
Taskin also credited new power-hitting coach Julian Wood for sparking positive change: “Julian hasn’t been with us long, but his input has already helped us in power-hitting. We’re learning a lot from him, and his guidance is proving really useful. Of course, in 7-10 days it’s hard to see big improvements, but with longer-term training, you’ll see more results.”
Above all, Taskin emphasized team unity as Bangladesh’s biggest strength. “Everyone is supporting each other, and this environment is very important for us,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Taskin said the goal is clear: “We want to win every series. We’re working on correcting our mistakes and making the team stronger.”
