Afghanistan Announce Preliminary Squad for Asia Cup 2025; Rashid Khan to Lead
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 22-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, with star leg-spinner Rashid Khan named as captain. The selectors have expressed full confidence in Rashid’s form, despite recent concerns, as he continues to lead the national side.
The squad, revealed on Monday (August 4), will also feature in a preparatory tri-nation T20I series against Pakistan and hosts UAE ahead of the Asia Cup. The training and conditioning camp will be held in the UAE, beginning on August 29.
This year’s Asia Cup is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates. Afghanistan has been placed in Group B, where they will face Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong in the group stage.
