Zimbabwe announce squad for Sri Lanka series with Williams and Taylor returning

Zimbabwe Cricket has named a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The biggest highlight is the return of two seasoned campaigners — all-rounder Sean Williams and wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor.

The series will get underway on Wednesday at Harare Sports Club, with the remaining two matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. All three games will start at 1:30 PM local time.

Williams has been out of action for a long time due to injuries and rest. He last featured in a T20I back in May against Bangladesh. Now, the experienced all-rounder is eager to make an impact once again in national colors.

Meanwhile, Brendan Taylor makes his long-awaited comeback to the T20I side. Team management believes his inclusion will add valuable experience to the batting lineup.

Brad Evans and young batter Tadiwanashe Marumani also return to the side. However, Newman Nyamhuri, Wesley Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa, and Tafadzwa Tsiga — all of whom were part of the last series — have been left out.

For Zimbabwe, the series isn’t just about facing Sri Lanka but also serves as crucial preparation for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, which they will host at home. Building a strong and balanced squad for that tournament remains their top priority.
