Zakir explained the reason why five fielders go after one ball

In the first innings of the Chattogram Test, Bangladeshi fielders took 7 catches to dismiss 10 Sri Lankan batters. However, today in the second innings, Hasan Mahmud and Khaled's efforts in the morning and afternoon sessions turned Bangladesh's disappointment into joy. There was keen alertness in the slips and fielding, particularly from Shanto and Dipu. Regarding the dropped catch where five fielders went for the ball, Jakir commented, "When the team is playing well, everyone feels motivated to do something extraordinary."

Sri Lanka ended their second innings of the Chattogram Test after losing 6 wickets for 102 runs in 25 overs. Their lead now stands at 456 runs. Bangladesh's innings ended at 178 runs before tea on the third day of the Chattogram Test. In the first innings, Sri Lanka had a lead of 353 runs. Despite the opportunity to enforce a follow-on, the visitors opted to bat again.

In the 21st over of Sri Lanka's innings, Hasan Mahmud's delivery saw Prabath Jayasuriya edge the ball behind. Five fielders chased after the ball to save a boundary, with Mominul Haque leading the charge, followed by Jakir and Joy. Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Mehedi Hasan Miraz were behind them.

At the end of the day's play, Jakir Hasan was asked about the incident where five fielders chased after the ball to save a boundary.

"Hasan Mahmud is bowling very well. This is his debut match. You've seen that he has got good movement with the ball. He has bowled in good areas, and it's paying off. He has asked me to stand close in the slips, and it has worked well. We are always trying to maintain that effort. But in that situation, everyone went to catch the ball because of the effort, and hence, ended up chasing it," Jakir explained.
