World Record in List 'A' Cricket: Chad Bowes Smashes Fastest Double Century
New Zealand batter Chad Bowes has set a world record, claiming the title for the fastest double century in List 'A' cricket. The right-handed batter, born in South Africa, made history by scoring 200 runs off just 103 balls during a List 'A' match in New Zealand's domestic league.
The 31-year-old Chad Bowes, representing Canterbury in the Ford Trophy, achieved this milestone against Otago Volts.
Previously, the record for the fastest double century in List 'A' cricket was jointly held by Australia’s Travis Head and India’s Narayan Jagadeesan. Both players reached 200 in 114 balls.
Travis Head scored his double century in 114 balls for South Australia against Queensland in 2021. A year later, in November 2022, Narayan Jagadeesan equaled the record, reaching 200 in 114 balls against Arunachal Pradesh while playing for Tamil Nadu.
By surpassing these two, Chad Bowes now holds the top spot. However, after setting the record, he did not last much longer, getting dismissed for 205 off 110 balls. His remarkable innings included 27 fours and 7 sixes.
Chad’s performance today was the fastest List A double century (205 runs) by balls faced (103) IN THE WORLD. Not only that but Chad is the first player for Canterbury to score 200 in Ford Trophy, and the second overall!

Chad Bowes has played 11 T20 internationals for New Zealand. Before settling in New Zealand in 2015, he represented South Africa in the Under-19 team.
It is worth noting that international ODIs, 50-over tour matches, Cricket World Cup Challenge League games, and premier domestic One-Day matches (in ICC's 12 full member nations) are all classified as List 'A' matches.
