Who is Adam Griffith, the New Pace Bowling Coach of Australia
Adam Griffith has been appointed as the new pace bowling coach of Cricket Australia. The former Tasmanian first-class cricketer will now work with Australia’s men’s team and will be responsible for the "development and preparation of pace bowlers," according to a press release by Cricket Australia.
Griffith previously served as the assistant coach for Victoria. Now, he will be based at Cricket Australia’s National Cricket Centre in Brisbane and undertake several critical responsibilities, including developing a national strategy for pace bowlers, overseeing the preparation of pacers for the national team, assisting in coaching Australia’s men’s and Australia 'A' teams, and contributing to the development of pace bowling coaches.
Andrew McDonald, the head coach of Australia’s senior men’s team, remarked, "Adam brings a wealth of experience to Cricket Australia, which will make him an integral part of our coaching team. His expertise in preparing pace bowlers will be immensely valuable to our national men’s team."
Griffith has substantial coaching experience at the elite level. He has worked as a senior assistant coach for Western Australia and Perth Scorchers and served as the director of coaching for Tasmania. He was also the head coach of the Tasmania Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes. Additionally, until the IPL 2024 season, he served as the assistant bowling coach for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
On the international stage, Griffith has worked as an assistant coach for Australia’s men’s team during bilateral series in 2012 and 2016, as well as the ICC World Cup in England in 2019.
