West Indies bounced back strongly to defeat India by five wickets in the third and final ODI. However, the victory was not enough for the Caribbean side to claim the series, as India had already secured the series by winning the first two matches. India eventually finished the three-match series with a 2-1 victory.

Chasing a massive target of 352 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, West Indies reached the target in 48.2 overs, losing five wickets. Captain Shai Hope led the team from the front with a remarkable batting display.

Hope continued his outstanding form by scoring his second consecutive ODI century. He remained unbeaten on 162 off 143 deliveries, smashing 17 fours and three sixes. His brilliant innings made the challenging run chase much easier for the Caribbean side.

Hope received valuable support from Amir Jangoo and Keemo Paul. Jangoo contributed a crucial 67, while Paul scored 44 to play an important role in West Indies’ successful chase.

Earlier, India posted a big total after being asked to bat first. The hosts scored 351 for seven in their allotted 50 overs. KL Rahul was the standout performer with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 129 off just 87 balls, including 10 fours and six sixes.

Rohit Sharma also made a significant contribution with 92 runs, while Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 57. Their knocks helped India set a formidable target, but the Indian bowlers failed to defend the total as West Indies completed a memorable chase.

However, the defeat in the final match did not affect India’s series triumph, as they had already won the opening two games. India wrapped up the three-match ODI series 2-1.
