Vijay expresses anger on Facebook Live after being left out of the BPL auction
National team cricketer Anamul Haque Vijay has expressed shock and anger after not finding his name in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) auction list. Reports suggest that players who were under suspicion of involvement in fixing during the last season have been excluded from this year’s auction process. However, Vijay claims he received no response from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) despite trying to contact them for clarification. To explain his position, he went live on Facebook on Saturday night.
At the beginning of the live session, Anamul Haque Vijay voiced his disappointment over the cricket board’s silence. He made a direct accusation, saying,
"If the BCB had responded, I wouldn’t need to do this live. If I am guilty, I want proof. If I am guilty, ban me for life. Many people don’t like me as a player, think I’m not a good teammate. Fine, I don’t need to play anymore if I am guilty. But if I am innocent, who will give feedback for the damage done to me, who will restore my honour?"
Vijay also expressed frustration over internal BCB processes and information leaks to the media. He questioned where such information originates and why the board does not provide any official explanation. In his words—
"Where does this end? What does red flag mean? How did it end up in Prothom Alo? Who is the person who shares BCB and our information with journalists—that’s my first question. Second question, for the past year I have faced so much nonsense news, BCB should have held a clear press conference or spoken with guts about these issues. I haven’t seen any such conference or publicity, why haven’t they done it?"
Claiming he has never been involved in anything dishonest throughout his cricket career, Anamul Haque Vijay also reminded everyone of his achievements in domestic cricket. He said—
"I am the first Bangladeshi player to score 50 centuries. Those who support me, don’t you ever think that this boy has been playing cricket like crazy for so long, so dedicated, yet he is being humiliated like this and you are accepting and believing it? That hurts."
Towards the end, Vijay reiterated his honesty and urged the BCB to ensure justice. He added—
"I can say I am 100% honest. I haven’t done anything illegal to feel guilty. I hope this reaches the BCB and they take action. Thank you for trusting me and for your love."
