Two Bangladeshi Umpires in Asia Cup, Assigned to India-Pakistan Clash

A total of 10 umpires will officiate in this year’s Asia Cup, all selected from the participating nations. Alongside two Bangladeshi umpires, the panel includes Afghanistan’s Ahmad Pakteen and Izzatullah Shafiq, Pakistan’s Asif Yaqoob and Faisal Afridi, Sri Lanka’s Ravindra Wimalasiri and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, and India’s Rohan Pandit and Virender Sharma.

According to ACC regulations, umpires will not officiate matches involving their own countries, ensuring complete neutrality in every game.

One of the most anticipated fixtures, the India vs Pakistan clash on September 14, will feature Bangladesh’s Masudur Rahman as an on-field umpire alongside Sri Lanka’s Ruchira Palliyaguruge. Masudur will also serve as an on-field umpire in the September 12 Pakistan vs Oman match and as the TV umpire in the September 15 Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong match.

Meanwhile, Gazi Sohel has also been handed several key assignments. He will stand as an on-field umpire in the India vs UAE match on September 10. He will also serve as TV umpire in the Pakistan vs Oman match on September 12 and as an on-field umpire in the September 15 Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong game.
