Bangladesh now face Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. Ahead of this crucial clash, pace bowling coach Shaun Tait has expressed confidence in his fast bowlers. Before the Tigers step into their first Super Four match, Tait shared his satisfaction with the team’s pace attack. In his eyes, a fighting mentality is gradually developing among the Bangladeshi fast bowlers—something that could make the difference in big matches.
In particular, Tait’s words carried trust and praise for Mustafizur Rahman. Calling the left-arm pacer a “big asset” for the team, he said,
“I’m very happy with Mustafiz’s bowling. He’s an experienced performer, has been in the side for a long time, and understands his job well. My responsibility is simply to make sure he’s happy and confident. The rest, he handles on his own.”
Tait also spoke about how much he enjoys working with Mustafiz. In his words:
“Spending time with him, working with him—it’s all really enjoyable. He’s a very important player for the team.”
However, it’s not just Mustafiz. The Australian coach sees promising changes among the younger pacers as well. Tait believes now is the time to step onto the field with confidence.
“We’ve told the pacers to believe in themselves. A few of them naturally play with a fighting spirit. I want them to make their presence felt, especially against the big teams. Confidence plays a huge role here.”
The team’s schedule also looks challenging. Right after their match against India in the Super Four, Bangladesh are set to face Pakistan the very next day. But Tait views this in a positive light.
“That’s the beauty of this tournament—matches come quickly. It gives us the chance to forget the previous result and focus on the next game. That’s exactly how we’re moving forward.”
