Not many people pay much attention to the number of sixes hit in Test cricket. In the oldest format of the game, six-hitting has not been given extra significance. However, in modern cricket, scoring quickly in Test matches has become important, much like in the ODI and T20 formats.
The term "Bazball" is closely associated with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, who hold the top two spots for the most sixes in Test cricket. Apart from them, only Adam Gilchrist has managed to hit 100 sixes in this format.
There are only four players who have hit 90 or more sixes but haven't crossed the 100-mark. One of them is Tim Southee. Although primarily a bowler, the New Zealand cricketer is among the top 10 six-hitters in Test cricket.
In the ongoing Bangalore Test against India, as of the time of this report, Tim Southee has hit three sixes, surpassing India's Virender Sehwag. Southee now holds the 6th position on the list of players with the most sixes in Test cricket.
