After a long period of failure, Bangladesh achieved a historic Test victory on West Indies' soil after 15 years. This series also marked the first time that Mehidy Hasan Miraz captained the Bangladesh Test team, and for him, this victory held special significance. In his post-match comments, the Bangladesh captain expressed his immense satisfaction with the achievement.

Miraz shared his feelings, saying, "Alhamdulillah, I am really happy. After losing the first match, we won the second one. This is definitely a huge achievement for me, especially since it’s my first time as captain. Winning in the West Indies is a great accomplishment for me."

Due to regular captain Shanto's injury, Miraz took over the captaincy, and he handled it with confidence. He acknowledged that there were no issues in his leadership, as everyone followed the advice and guidance provided. Miraz praised his team's collective effort, saying, "I want to give credit for the victory to all the players. Everyone accepted the advice I gave. The conditions were not easy. It was difficult for everyone, but mentally, everyone was determined to win the match. Everyone wanted to win with all their heart, and that’s why we managed to win the match."

In terms of his leadership in the second innings, Miraz revealed the message he conveyed to his players: "I told the players that without positive thinking, it would be tough on this wicket. Since we got a lead of 18 runs in the first innings, it was very important to score runs here. We knew that if we could make 250 runs on this wicket, it would make winning the match easier for us. The message was to play with a positive mindset."

Miraz also spoke about Shahadat Hossain Dipu’s performance. Regarding the situation after Mominul’s illness, Miraz said, "When Mominul fell ill, the whole team was a bit puzzled. Batting in that position was a bit challenging. But I told Dipu, and he agreed. I gave him one piece of advice: play positively. If you feel like hitting the first ball, go ahead and hit it. No one will say anything. I assured him. He played that way, and his 28 runs were very important. I also batted at number four with the same mindset, because scoring runs on this wicket was crucial. The message for all the players was that even a single run is important, and every player should play for runs. It doesn’t mean that we played defensively in Test cricket; we played with this mentality and plan."
