Temba Bavuma ruled out of first Test in Bangladesh
South Africa's team has faced a major setback ahead of their tour to Bangladesh. Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the first Test due to injury. Dewald Brevis and Lungi Ngidi have been called up to the squad, with Aiden Markram set to lead the team in the first Test.
Bavuma's absence is due to injury, and he follows Nadre Burger, who was also ruled out for the same reason. Both Brevis and Ngidi have been added as replacements. It is hoped that Bavuma will be fit for the second Test of the series.
Aiden Markram will captain South Africa in the first Test starting on October 21 in Dhaka. Brevis has been called up as cover for Bavuma. Although Brevis is waiting for his Test debut, he has played two T20 matches in the Protea jersey.
Even though Bavuma will be absent from the first Test, he will arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday and will continue his recovery under the supervision of the Proteas medical team in preparation for the second Test, which will begin on October 29 in Chittagong.
South Africa's Test Squad for Bangladesh Tour: Temba Bavuma (Captain), David Beddingham, Matthew Britzke, Dewald Brevis, Tony de Giorgio, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram (Captain for the first Test), Vian Mulder, Senuran Muthusamy, Lungi Ngidi, Dane Paterson, Dane Piedt, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton (Wicketkeeper), Kyle Verreynne (Wicketkeeper).
