Mumbai's spinning all-rounder, Tanush Kotian, has joined Rajasthan Royals by replacing Adam Zampa. Due to personal reasons, Zampa has decided to withdraw his name from this year's IPL. Rajasthan had retained this Australian leg-spinner as part of their squad.

During IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals had bid a hefty sum of 1.25 crore rupees for Zampa. Prior to that, in 2020, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Before that, he represented Rising Pune Supergiants in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Rajasthan retained this Aussie cricketer in their squad this time around.

He has a new addition to his family in Australia. Zampa has been quite busy lately with various commitments. He has played matches in the Big Bash League alongside series against India, West Indies, and New Zealand. He has been present in all these series since the last ICC World Cup.

During the IPL 2023 auction, there was considerable interest from several franchises towards Kotian. However, due to some doubts regarding Kotian's bowling action by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), no franchise took the risk. However, Kotian has recently shone in the Ranji Trophy.

In Ranji, playing for Mumbai, he became the second-highest run-scorer with 502 runs. Besides, as the leading wicket-taker for the team, he collected 29 wickets. He even secured a century in a Ranji Trophy match as a number ten batsman.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Kotian took 9 wickets in 8 matches with an economy of 5.58. In November 2022, he played a crucial role in clinching the Ranji Trophy title for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh, picking up 3 wickets before hitting a six to seal the victory.

Although Zampa has left, Rajasthan still has big names like Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal to handle the spin responsibilities. The team will only have 7 foreign players in the squad for IPL 2024.
