Due to the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), many star cricketers are currently in Bangladesh, some as players and others as mentors. Despite their different roles, there is a strong bond of friendship among them. Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has come to Bangladesh as the mentor of Chittagong Kings. A viral video clip featuring Afridi, Mohammad Nabi, Tamim Iqbal, and others has been making the rounds on social media.
The video, posted on Shahid Afridi’s YouTube channel, shows Afridi, Nabi, Shaheen Afridi, and Tamim Iqbal chatting together. Their conversation covers a wide range of topics, from cricket to politics. At one point, Tamim asks Afridi if he has any interest in entering politics. To which the former Pakistani captain responds, "Given what I’ve seen of your situation, I no longer have that desire."
The video also shows Afridi reminiscing about his first visit to Dhaka. He tells Tamim, “I first came to Dhaka in 1997-98 when your league was going on.” Tamim, in turn, remarks to Nabi, “When you (Nabi) played, there were no spectators. But when they (Afridi and others) played, the stands were full of fans.”
In the video, Tamim also speaks about his retirement plans. Though he hasn't explicitly mentioned it to the media, in the conversation, Tamim clearly states that he will not be playing for the national team anymore. Additionally, 40-year-old Mohammad Nabi talks about his retirement plans, stating that he will retire after the Champions Trophy.
