Tamim Iqbal Undergoes Heart Surgery, Team Mohammedan Wins DPL Match
Mohammadan Sporting Club's captain, Tamim Iqbal, was unable to continue playing after winning the toss against Shinepukur in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match due to severe chest pain. He was rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that he had a heart blockage, and a stent was inserted. Following the successful procedure, Tamim was moved to the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) for further monitoring.
Despite Tamim's absence, Mohammadan secured a convincing 7-wicket victory over Shinepukur at BKSP’s Number 3 ground. Shinepukur was bowled out for 223 runs, and Mohammadan chased down the target with 46 balls to spare. After the match, Tamim’s teammates, including Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, and Taijul Islam, rushed to the hospital to visit the legendary opener and check on his condition.
The alarming incident occurred just before the match started when Tamim felt intense chest pain. Initially, there were plans to transfer him by helicopter to Dhaka, but his condition did not improve enough for that, so he was taken to KPJ Specialized Hospital by ambulance.
As per the latest updates, doctors successfully placed a stent in Tamim's heart. He is currently under close observation in the CCU. His family has been informed, and he has also spoken with his teammates, including Mahmudullah Riyad. The players visited him at the hospital right after the match.
On the field, Mehedi Hasan Miraz stepped up in Tamim’s absence, scoring a brilliant 103 runs to lead Mohammadan’s chase. Earlier, Taijul Islam claimed three wickets for 44 runs, while Miraz, Saifuddin, and Nasum Ahmed took two wickets each to help Mohammadan secure their sixth win in the DPL this season.
The cricket community, especially Tamim's fans and teammates, are rallying behind him, hoping for his swift and full recovery.
